they recognized him in the breaking of the bread

Welcome

It is our pleasure and privilege to welcome you to Emmaus. Our parish serves our local community of Mount Ephraim and many of the surrounding communities.

We extend our hands and hearts to you in Christian hospitality, whether you are a long-term area resident, newly arrived, or just in town for the weekend. We are pleased to welcome you to our parish.

Our Mission Statement

Our Parish Mission is to answer our Baptismal call and our understanding of the Gospel message to teach, encourage and nurture each other so that the local community will see Emmaus Catholic Community as a beacon of light guiding others to Jesus Christ.

As disciples we boldly, prayerfully, enthusiastically, go where we have not gone before.

Emmaus Story

Now that very day two of them were going to a village seven miles from Jerusalem called Emmaus, and they were conversing about all the things that had occurred. And it happened that while they were conversing and debating, Jesus himself drew near and walked with them, but their eyes were prevented from recognizing him. He asked them, "What are you discussing as you walk along?" They stopped, looking downcast. One of them, named Cleopas, said to him in reply, "Are you the only visitor to Jerusalem who does not know of the things that have taken place there in these days?" read more

Stewardship Reflection

Stewardship has no Stench So they took away the stone.‖ (John 11:41a) Perhaps one of Our Lord’s greastest miracles was the raising of Lazarus. Yet, we see that even in this great miracle Jesus calls others to act. He tells the crowd to roll away the stone from the tomb. And they protest, saying it will stink. How often do we think that something God is asking us to do might ―stink‖ - whether it is giving more of our time, our talent or our treasure? Yet if we step up in Stewardship to follow Our Lord’s command and take away the stones that block us from participating in God’s work, we can expect great miracles in our lives.

About Us

It all started on September 25, 1939 for Sacred Heart Parish....
In the course of time it became apparent that the number of Catholics residing in and around Mt. Ephraim was increasing.  Moreover, it became equally apparent that a large number of these Catholics were not making the journey to attend Mass either at Haddon Heights or at any of the other neighboring parishes. continue

It started on September 26,1954 for Holy Maternity Parish...
Young Bill Miller gazed over the 11-plus acres located off Nicholson Road. It was desolate, a barren field of weeds – except for the mounds of dirt. The bulldozer parked on a corner of the property had begun excavating. continue

It begins June 9, 2010, for Emmaus Catholic Community...
Bishop Joseph Galante formally announced today that the parishes of Holy Maternity, Audubon and Sacred Heart, Mt. Ephraim, will merge and the new parish resulting from the merger, Emmaus Catholic Community, will be established.

Parish Ministries

We invite you to become involved in one or more of our many ministries listed on this website. Your participation will help you to discover many friends at Emmaus Catholic Community. It will help you live out the promise you made to Christ in Baptism and Confirmation.
Your participation will continue to make Emmaus Catholic Community an active community of faith. Contact us if you have additional questions or comments for a particular ministry.

Be Advised and Warned

All though parking is a problem, you must refrain from parking in the Fire Lanes. It has come to our attention that cars will be ticketed for parking in these lanes. The Fire Lanes are areas between the church and the school and right next to the church on the parking lot side. These areas must remain clear so fire equipment can get in for an emergency.
